Safe in moderation
Can dogs eat plain cooked chicken? Yes, in moderation
Safe. Plain, unseasoned cooked chicken off the bone is a good protein treat; skip bones, skin and seasoning.
If your dog ate a lot
- No need to worry if your dog ate plain, boneless cooked chicken.
- If it had bones or onion or garlic seasoning, call your vet for advice.
Don't
- Don't give cooked chicken bones.
- Don't feed raw chicken.
How to give it safely
Serve unseasoned roasted, poached, grilled or baked chicken, taken off the bone and skin removed, as a treat or mixed into meals.
Why
Cooked chicken bones splinter easily and can cause choking or a gut puncture. Some dogs are allergic to chicken.
