Safe in moderation
Can dogs eat beef? Yes, in moderation
Safe. Plain, lean, cooked beef with no seasoning is a good protein treat; trim the fat and skip bones.
If your dog ate a lot
- No need to worry if your dog ate plain cooked beef.
- If it was seasoned with onion or garlic, or was very fatty, call your vet for advice.
Don't
- Don't give cooked bones.
- Don't share seasoned burgers or raw meat.
How to give it safely
Cook fully and plainly, trim or drain the fat, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
Why
Seasonings like onion and garlic are toxic, fatty meat can trigger pancreatitis, and raw beef can carry Salmonella and E. coli.
