Safe in moderation. Plain cooked oatmeal made with water is a good occasional treat; skip sugary, flavored or raisin oatmeal.
If your dog ate a lot
- No need to worry if your dog ate some plain oatmeal.
- If it had raisins, chocolate or xylitol, call your vet or a pet poison line now.
Don't
- Don't add sugar, butter, salt or milk.
- Don't use flavored instant packets.
How to give it safely
Cook plain oats in water, let them cool, and serve a small portion now and then.
