Safe in moderation. Plain, washed, chopped lettuce such as romaine or iceberg is fine, but don't share salads, which may contain onion.

How to give it safely
Wash well, chop into small pieces, and offer plain now and then.
Why
Too much lettuce can cause diarrhea, and whole leaves can be hard to digest.
